What are people seeing?!

Postby ChrtruseMajic » Sun Nov 28, 2010 2:38 pm

Who all has been out deer hunting lately, from where, and what have you been seeing as far as activity? I have only been out one day this week and I am not seeing anything. Barely even seeing squirrels. Any input?

I will tell you that I hit it pretty hard this whole past two weeks going from bow to shotgun and I am not seeing anything in the morning but I have been seeing alot in the evening. Been able to shoot two nice big does but the bucks I am seeing are not the big boys I have seen at my spots in the past and the I have on camera this year. Not sure if it was the moon phases or what but they are not even coming to the corn a whole lot yet. Anybody have any suggestions other than being patient? I know the colder it gets the more they are going to move but, should I try a mid morning hunt mayb from 8 am until about 12 and then go back in for the evening? Thanks.

I have noticed that I have seen the bigger ones moving more in the evening time. And even later in the night. I also think that if it got colder earler this year it would have been a better year I think. One good thing is its getting cold and the year isn't over yet.

you both are right jpuff and skinsfan363. The weather hasn't been the best this year and the cold weather didn't coincide with the moon phases. So we were kinda screwed early season. But yes, we do have more time before the season is over. Mid morning-early afternoon might be a good idea in heavily hunted areas because deer have been accustomed to most hunters leaving during that time. So that might be an idea. Unfortunately, I can't hunt evening cause I am always at work. So I can only hunt mornings, so we will see what they turn out. Good luck the rest of season.

Deer have a funny way of changing their patterns just when we think we figured them out.... where iv been hunting most of the time the big boys come thru early in the morning or late in the evening where its almost too dark to shoot. the guy i shot sunday came thru at 730.... dont know why maybe he got held up in the neighborhood, or maybe he was just that cold that he needed to stay out later to eat. i know with this cold weather the deer should be getting up and moving around a little every 2-3 hours... now is the time to be hunting their bedding areas especially mid morning into mid afternoon. and then maybe fall back to a food plot or travel corridor for the rest of the day... also as i gutted all three of them i checked their stomachs... he had mostly greens in his stomachs and the other two had a mixture of mostly acorns and a few greens... so the deer are not eating at the same place.... alot of the acorns are gone and i dont know where these two found them.... maybe a yard somewhere.... if your a fan of throwing corn... now is the time to be doing it.... if not find the food.... the group i had sunday where not all full of fat.... so they need to start putting on the weight..... and bulking up.... getting that insulation.... i have the feeling this cold snap is really gonna get them moving and finding food

that sounds good. One question is I know that a full moon means that they feed all night and dont move to much dureing the day. What do the other moon phases mean? If any?
