WANNA NIGHT HUNT YOTES AFTER BUCK SEASON!

Everything Predator...

Postby cuppedwings » Mon Jun 29, 2009 9:40 am

That is a good call. I was hunting from my tree stand, but it doesn't give me much mobility. Plus, I was also hunting just before dark and early morning. This year I am probably going to hook up with a spot light for the gun and wee what I can do. Because this was my first year trying it, I wasn't very well equipped, Now I have the summer to get advise and get some stuff together to try it. Do any of you guys use decoys? I know there is a lot of info on the web, but at least I know you guys have had some success and aren't just writing an article to buy the "worlds best equipment" if you know what I mean. I sell the stuff, but I certainly am not rich!!

I personally have never used a decoy but the guys I've talked to that have said it works wonders. Especially a decoy with a little movement.

I have heard the movement decoys are great. To bad they are illegal here!

I could see the benefit because it might help keep their eyes off of you. Everything I have read so far says they like to be up on top of hills and high spots. I just figure that if I am going to have any success, I am going to have to try and hunt them at night as well.

Just a FYI, when you're calling predators remember you can be calling all predators. So if you have bear in your area, you may just get a big surprise.

Makes for a interesting hunt at night thats for sure...HAHAHA

LOL, They actually just opened bear season around here! I live in upstate ny, been here my entire life. I have seen signs of bear in the area, but haven't actually ever seen one. Of course I don't believe that the season is open after sundown!! I am hoping should I run into trouble the old 30/30 would take him down. I am to old and fat to run!!!

Just hunt with a partner whos older and fatter. All you have to do and be faster then he/she.

I have read a number of articles about calling in bears and it seems that it can be very effective.

It's always a rule of thumb to bring someone slower and fatter than you on a dangerous hunt. Not just for the bragging rights but to save your own ass!
