How much would it cost?

Postby mattyrayb » Sun Jul 11, 2010 1:44 pm

I have an older bow that I had restrung (2 strings), cable guard put on, and 3 arrows cut down to size.
How much would you typically think that would cost? Bear in mind the strings were apparently about $30 each.

I just want to see if I got hosed.

Thanks.

I believe most places, if you buy the strings from them they will put them on for you for free, so wouldn't cost anymore than the strings... Not sure what it would cost to replace the cable guard or cut 3 arrows, but it couldnt be that much...

What did they get you for..??

Well I went to pick it up and they told me it would be $174!!
The bow is only worth like $50 so I wouldn't have gotten it done if I knew the cost was that high.
I didn't walk out with it yet and I'm debating whether or not to actually pick it up now.
I asked if they could just take the stuff off and they said it would be another $25 for labor which means it was $25 for the other "services". So $50 to walk out with less than I had before.

wow yeah the strings normally get put on for free and the arrows should'nt have cost to cut to size if you already have the arrows. 174 ....that aint cheap

So you're looking at $60 for strings, and that's the only new pieces you were putting on..? So they want to charge you $114 to put on a string a cable and cut 3 arrows down..? That doesn't sound right, we must be missing something... If we aren't thats CRAZY!

That and a new cable guard (which was $20 and $10 for the clip that holds the cable).

btw, this was Freds S.G. that everyone talks about.

Matt, there must be a little confusion on the cost and what was done with your bow.
You had :
2 Cables and a 1 String installed @ 24.98ea totalling 74.94
Saunders Z-Rod Cable guard 19.98
Bowtech teflon cable slide 8.98
String Loop 4.98
Peep Hose 1.98
Because the three arrows were arrows that we do not stock(we buy inserts by the 1000 and sell single inserts for those), the smallest qty of inserts is a dz pack. In which you will get the remaining inserts. 9.98

Labor for installing strings, cables ,Z-rod 25.00

All this totals 145.84 not 174.00 which is a chunk of change, but you have a rebuilt bow that will provide many more years of hunting. Far cheaper than a new bow.
