HD waterfowl loads

Postby allen.riggs » Sun Jul 01, 2012 10:45 pm

When I was a kid, I can remember shooting ducks with lead shot. Lead worked very well. Then, we had to start shooting steel. Steel works o.k. at close range, but out past 25 or 30 yards it seems to cripple more than kill. A few years ago I started shooting HeviShot. It works better than steel by far and reminds me more of the lead I shot as a kid. 45 yard kill shots are common with few cripples. I am a believer in HeviShot. What do you guys shoot?

To be honest with you, I like both of the loads that you have talked about. I do have to say, I bought a case of heavy shot and I was very disappointed. The best loads that I have ever shot were Winchester Supremes. I still have a couple boxes and they haven't steered me wrong. Don't go fad or expensive. Go experience.
