You guys into turkey decoys??

Postby cut_un » Sat Feb 12, 2011 7:49 pm

Myself, I'm more of a run and gun type, when I'm on the move in the woods, I will usually carry one hen decoy. I'm a firm beleiver that the sight of a decoy will calm the old boy down. If I'm planning to sit and wait, which,as a rule means field edges & logging roads. I use 3 deeks, one feeding hen off to the side, one upright hen, staked low and a jake about 5 yards behind the upright hen.... more times than not, my shot wil be with the gobbler standing toe to toe with the jake decoy... How about you guys??

i like the single hen, and the mounted jake on the hen decoy too

We use decoys, also a hen on a string works good, too..just a little movement and they come running...we also have used skins, they look real cool and real...we have hens, jakes, toms...we use 2 or 3 decoys out when we hunt...

I depends on the year for what decoys I use. I use a hen sometimes and sometimes I use a tom and a hen. Depends. I am thinking about getting the avian turkey deeks by zink. They are
$h!t hot.

I never use them myself but I have several friends who swear by the HS Strut hottie hen. Maybe I'll add one to my hunting gear.

I too carry 3 decoys. A passive hen, a feeding hen and a passive jake decoy. I never really assort them any certain way except I'm sure to fave the jake decoy towards me if I use it. This way, the gobbler I'm hunting is forced to circle around to get in the decoy's face thus bringing him into range of the old boomstick! :dealer:

I have a couple. I have had more success without them, so I rarely take them anymore. I prefer hunting big woods to farm-field country, so the less I pack, the better.
