Does anyone know when the best time of the season is to hunt for that trophey buck you've always wantedd? I think its durin the rut because bucks lose there sense when their in rut and don't care what they do, they just want to get that doe. Lemme know what y'all think
I would say that the rut is the best time to shoot a big buck. But it all depends on the movements of that buck you are after. Some big bucks that don't have much hunting pressure might not be as nocturnal as those that are heavily pressured. That is the good thing about trail cameras is that you can pattern deer and see where they are at.

Thats true, never really thought about that, although i do try to hunt where hunters arent normally at. Thats good advice thanks for the help.
id also say early bow.... early bird gets the worm kinda thing.... so long as you have the pattern down the deer really have had no pressure. figure out what they are doing and opening week of bow season can be very productive......

I always take 2 weeks vacation from November 4-18 which here in michigan runs in bow season and the first 3 days of rifle season! 9 times out of 10 thats when i get my deer for the year! I see more deer and sit almost all day!
the second weekend usally opening of the firearms season in november is the time here in minnesota this is the time to be out in the woods, although the biggest buck i ever saw was running does in my own yard, a big 8 pointer was running the 3rd week of october. so mid to lake october i think things are just starting to heat up
got to hunt the rut
Pre-rut or just plain Rut... Scout all summer and get your setup down. Trail cam if possible to track times and dates and eating habits. Keep em' around and grow em' with a constant supply of year long food if you can. Grow the deer, watch the deer, shoot the deer! Bucks tend to lose a bit of all there sense during intense rut... the nose usually stays 100% though... Hearing is way off. Good luck!

depends on where, but generally Late October is my favorite. I also like that time of year to be in the woods.
