What/When are you planting this year?

Postby HuntingEd » Fri May 07, 2010 8:07 am

Just thought it would be interesting to see what everyone is planting this year?

So far all I've done is purned, mulched, and fenced my crab-apple orchard, mowed my clover fields, and put out salt/mineral blocks. No planting yet, my clover fields are only 2 yrs old so they wont need replanting. Here's what I'm planning on planting in the end of May:

6 Acres of Corn
3 Acres of Soy Beans

Then I've got 3 acres of newly timbered land I'm hoping to make a clover field. So I'll be spraying it then discing it until fall, when I'll be planting the clover..

We're going to try out Eagle beans this year in our summer plots. They are a forage bean that dwarf regular soybeans. They'll also stay green longer than regular soybeans hopefully providing a nice early season draw. Late summer we'll be putting in the usual clover and brassica plots.

We're planing purple top turnips right now with a little clover mixed in. They are great winter food plots for those KS bucks and seed is easy on the pocket book.

Good luck this year.

What would be a good plant to grow in somewhat shaded area that gets the noon sun, but not much other direct sunlight. Have a parcel right in the middle of an old forrest with area to plant. Any suggestions?
