Crop Damage Permits : Maryland Deer Specific

Postby Dodgem250 » Tue Oct 20, 2009 5:31 pm

I am asking everyone I think might be able to help me with this question.

I am quite curious to know the laws and regulations that a Farmer / Land Owner must follow under Maryland's Crop Damage Permit. The question in specific is, What is a Farmer / Land Owner allowed to do, or not do, with the deer carcass after the deer has been shot? Must the deer lay, or does the Farmer / Land Owner have the right to possess that deer and/or give it away?

Basically works the same as regular deer check in regs.

With the crop damage permit you are issued a permit # that you check the deer in under. You will recieve a confirmation # at check in.

You can then take the deer to the butcher shop or keep it for yourself.

Hope that helps.

FYI, any deer taken under a crop damage permit is required to be checked in under the crop damage permit #, regardless of what you do or don't do with the deer.

Yeah I asked a few people I did find out that the regs have changed in the past 10 years, it used to be that the deer had to lay and it could not be possessed, but, I see all that has changed.
