I haven't heard that one either. Do you put anything is the roasting pan with it? Like a mirepoix or anything? Fruits? Etc?

If you don't want to shoot a 22 on your property to kill it then get a large trash can that the trap will fit in. Fill trash can with water. Stick trap (with possum in it) in the trash can. Put lid on trash can and use a brick to hold the lid down. Walk away, let sit for 30 minutes. Then if you decide you want to eat it you didn't waste any meat shooting it. Them bullets are getting expensive these days and you would have to clean the gun too.
If you want to save a species, simply decide to eat it. Then it will be managed -
like chickens, like turkeys, like deer, like Canadian geese.

I don't know how good I would feel about drowning an animal on purpose. I think I would feel a lot better if I shot it or bowed it. I would rather be shot or bowed then drowned. haha. Plus, cleaning the gun is just a little extra time to yourself.

I don't trap just heard of it being done. I hear they do it a lot for skunks. If you throw the tarp over the cage it will keep them settled down and then you also have a better chance of them not spraying everywhere. They always spray when shot and putting them in the water cuts down the spray they would release.
