new recurve

Postby sqwrly » Wed Jun 03, 2009 9:45 pm

my friend just purchased a new recurve this evening and we were shooting it. after seeing the power this 45# bow could do i was amazed! my friend is going on a bear hunt this season comming up and wants to take a black bear with it.....think it's possible? i think he should just take his compound and do it to it.

First, Yes the bow would be sufficient with a sharp cut on contact broadhead.

Second, if he hasn't taken a bear with a bow yet, he should at least take the compound along.

Third, regardless of what he takes, he needs to keep it in the boiler room. A bear just keeps running when hit, if marginally hit, a bear will rarelly lay down like a deer. They will just run until they die, so they can cover alot of ground.

As long as the tip is sharp then that is fine! I think it would be cool to do that! I use me Recurve for bow fishing and it works great at that!

Always take a side arm while bear hunting with a bow, hell always take one anyways! You never know what will happen, better be safe than sorry!

If he's going to Canada, no pistols aloud unfortunatly, so if you want back up there, get the pepper spray.

Personally, I've found that either is just more BS you've got to carry with you. So I don't take anything. Besides, if you take a pistol you only need one round and quess who thats for. Because that bear will be on you before you could ever get your pistol out. So you use the pistol to put yourself out of your own missery. HAHAHA

That Canadian rule about the pistol's/side arms is pretty stupid if you ask me!

I'd agree with that, just doesn't make much sense.
