Heart Attack Buck...

Postby SJohnson » Wed Jan 14, 2009 2:19 pm

I figured I would get this section started...lol

This buck was Supposedly captured somewhere in Texas... Judging by the tag in his ear in the one picture, I would say this buck lives inside a fence... But regardless, it's still a MONSTER Deer... They rough scored him at 248 inches B&C he's over 32 inches inside and 34 inches outside, and he is supposed to only be 4 years old... I have also read that he has a million dollar price tag... Not sure who would pay that kind of cash, but there are alot of rich people in this world so who knows...

This Buck is a legend! He WAS a 4 years old and was captured on a low-fenced ranch but was taken to a breeding facility and he was the largest buck around but rumor has it this buck died from stress-related illness........but his genes are out there for future generations.....

WOW... I am suprised they captured him and took him to a ranch... That sucks that he didn't make the transition... What a monster of a buck though... Hopefully his offspring will grow into something just as special...

What i heard, was that the buck poatched, and that the guy who did it is rotting in jail after he turned himself in, he tried to get the rack mounted but the problem was the buck was so popular that they fool couldn't get it mounted. and turned himself in. they buck was used for his..... "buck sauce" where it fetched 4,000-5,000 bucks (pardon the pun) per vial. he ws only 4 years old. well. at least thats what i heard..... think i watched it on tv or something.

Raising Whiteail Deer

Postby Smoke1 » Thu Apr 09, 2009 9:25 am

With all the shows and people getting into the raising whitetail business was wondering what the hunt only community felt about it and how it affects how we look at Monster Bucks in our generation. In my opinion this seems to parallel the steriods era in baseball with Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron will always be my homerun king, who is your Hank Aaron of Whitetail Monsters?

The person I think is more of the Hank Aaron of Monster whitetails is a guy named Mike Weaver. I read a article, were they did an interview with him and he seems to be a real bow hunter who consistantly shots mature whitetail bucks.

He has taken more P&Y bucks then any other bowhunter every.

The article was from a 3 or more years back and at that time he had over 40 white tails in the P&Y books.

Interesting though, he stated he just aims for a mature buck that will qualify P&Y. He also stated if he had a 140" plus buck in range and a 170" buck was just out of range, he wouldn't wait for the 170.

He is not a guy out trying to shot the biggest bucks, just mature bucks. He his record speaks for itself.

I do think there is more pressure put on hunters to take a monster buck then should be. That's not all hunting is about.

BTW, Mr. T.R. Michels did an interview with Mike Weaver, its pretty good all should read.

Also, Mike Weaver is from Virginia, not the state you would think the all time P&Y leader would be from.
