iv dipped and even smoked. shot a doe with a smoke hanging out my mouth once..... all depends on the wind..... that and i dont think it spooks the deer that much. honestly i think they are almost curious about it.

ya know, Larry Weishuhn has even talked about using your own urine on a scrape, and the bucks smell it and get all mad cause someone else left a scent on their scrape.....

I've never heard of that but it does make sense.

That makes a little bit of sense, but I think I will stick to deer scents for the time being. As far as dipping and smoking goes, it all depends. I do know that nicotine can make you colder quicker. Keep that in mind as well.

Ive never have had that problem of getting colder from nicotine in the woods, but that just might be because my body is already frozen. LOL

I don't smoke but I do dip in the woods. Skoal Citrus blend. I always spit out of the stand. I don't want a bottle up there to deal with when that deer comes walking though (sneaky sometimes they are). I have had several deer (mostly yearlings, cause I am not shooting them) walk up under my stand and lick and eat leaves that I have spit on. Doesn't seem to bother them. I have had a dip in for every deer I have shot with my bow and the furthest was probably 40 yards. Some where shot as close as 10 yards. Doesn't seem to bother them at all.

My buddy is the same way. Skoal Apple, Berry or Citrus it doesn't matter the deer have licked/eaten it all.
If you want to save a species, simply decide to eat it. Then it will be managed -
like chickens, like turkeys, like deer, like Canadian geese.

Well I will def. take that into consideration if I start back up again. I used skoal mint though, so I don't know if deer would be attracted to that scent. Who knows. But I am trying not to go back to using bhewing tobacco.
