Bobcats

We have a ton of bobcats where I hunt in MS. I killed one last year from a tree stand. I want to go hunting just for them this year. Any pointers?

I wish we had bobcats around here (well the DNR says they are around, but I have never seen one!) If you ever need help with them, let me know! :Very Happy:

The key to calling bobcats is to be persistent and be patient. It will usually take a bobcat at least an hour or more to appear. They don't just run in like a coyote they are more cautious, and you may not see them until they are right on you. As far as locations they can really be just about anywhere. Look for large thickets or thick draws. Creek or river edges are usually good pinch points. In general also look for a place with food. Try to keep still even in a treestand, as I said you may not see them until they are close, but that doesn't mean they won't see you. I've also used a decoy and had great luck. The decoy out in an open area will catch the cats attention and usually draw it out sooner.
