Postby adaye » Wed Jan 07, 2009 11:04 pm

Something I've just been turned on too.... I have a couple buddy's that jar deer meat and I had some for the first time last weekend and it was great.

Thinking about trying some for myself. Once I get the recipe down I'll post it... Doesn't seem to be to difficult.

I'm originally from Pennsylvania and we did it all the time, we called it cold packing, it was great when you made gravy with it and put it over bread or mashed potatoes, you cold have it all prepared in a few minutes.

Yikes! I just can't stomach the idea of jarred deer meat. Although,... it does sound good with gravy and mashed potatoes. Lately, I've been big into making jerky with my game meat. I picked up an inexpensive jerky gun which helps me get very even and regular slices. I just use a bit of salt, pepper and a little teriyaki to season.
