Any luck in Va.

Postby cut_un » Wed Apr 13, 2011 1:53 pm

I'm only hunted this past Sat(opening day) It was not what I'd consider a pretty day in the turkey woods, guess the turkeys felt the same way as I did not hear any gobbling....... have talked to a few guys that have killed a few this week so looks like things are "getting right". Any of you been out,if so,how'd ya do??

i've been out a couple times and i had 2 come in the other day but were hung up. and had one come in yesterday but again hung up. i've seen alot of bears and deer though, does seem like things are getting "right" in the turkey woods though more gobbling starting to happen.

Gave ole Tom a dirt nap this morning. Heard 3 at daybreak, went to the first turkey that I heard gobble. That bird was in the process of working to me when a 2 year old decided to join the party. He gobbled behind me a 75 yards, was able to get turned around as he was hitting a small opening in the edge of a small field that I was set up next to.At 35 yards,it was lites out....... He weightedin at 20.4 had 1" -1 1/'8" spurs and a 9 1/4" beard.

Slipped out yesterday and layed anothergobbler down for a dirt nap. He put on quite the show as he strutted, drummed and spit across 100 yards of wide open field. He was a nice bird, 18 lbs, 10" beard with 1" spurs. So far so good...got one more tag left, ya never know :teeth:
