Magnet Gun Caddy

When you get to your hunting location or when you arrive at your shooting range, you may do what I’ve done for years and that is, lean the gun against your truck when getting your stuff ready. We’ll, do this long enough and you’ll experience what its’ like to have a gun slide off your truck or trip over it in the dark.

Sportsman's Code by Trophy Mag

Trophy MagWhile attending the Eastern Outdoors Show this past weekend, I came across an interesting new concept which I thought will be a great way to further promote hunting and the “be proud of who you are” mentality that I think we all need to adopt.

Trophy Magnet is the latest idea from a group of guys out of Pennsylvania. This magnet signifies a lot once decoded and is a great way to show fellow sportsman that you are a hunter and proud of it. Not sure who is watching “The Bone Collector” right now, but Waddell, Nick Mundt and T-Bone are doing a great job of promoting the sport and also being proud of who they are and what they do. The Trophy Magnet is a great way for us as hunters to help spread that mindset as well.

NxtStep Climbing System

Climbing Sticks like non I have seen. NxtStep by EI Outdoors is the latest innovation in Climbing Stick technology. These sticks solve a lot of the “issues” that come with the current climbing sticks on the market.

Motor Mouth Sounds

The Must have of the Show has to go to Motor Mouth Sounds. This is the ultimate in vehicle customization. Motor Mouth Sounds gives your vehicle a voice. What the voice sounds like is up to you, it could be a Turkey Gobble, Elk Bugle, Feeding Mallards, Fighting Bucks or a host of other sounds. The best part about the unit is you can buy multiple sounds, and swap them out depending on what season it is, or how you happen to feel that day.

With the Motor Mouth you use your existing keyless entry key fob to activate a sound when you lock and unlock your truck, car, bad boy buggie, or whatever else you set it up on. It’s really neat to hop out of your truck at the local sporting goods shop and lock your truck and hear the sounds of Turkey’s Gobbling on the roost in the spring. Motor Mouth sets your vehicle apart from the rest which is my favorite part.

Bow Turbow

This is one of the neatest “gadgets” we saw at the show. Most of us want to get the maximum potential from our equipment and no matter how fast the bow shoots; it’s never quite fast enough. Well Bow Turbow is here to help. Basically it’s an adjustable cable slide that allows you get the maximum potential from your bow. It replaces your standard cable slide with what you see below.

String Factors by XFactor Outdoors

String leaches are a necessary evil in the archery world. They really help quite your bowstring down in a hurry. The downside is they break or wear out at the worse possible times. As you already know even the slightest change in your setup can alter your shot. So when the string leach breaks off, you’re setup could now be affected. When you’re on the range at the 3D event or shooting in the NFAA finals, this could mean the difference between winning and a losing. Not the best situation to be in.

XFactor Outdoor Products has come up with the latest innovation in string leaches. They call it the “String Factor”. This is a virtually indestructible string leach made of a specialized A-Tech rubber. I literally tried to rip one of these in half and could not do it, but at the same time it’s very flexible. This takes string leaches to a whole new level.

Stink Stick Review

One of the latest innovations in scent dispensers is made by Stink Stick. The Stink Stick is made in the USA and made of heavy duty durable plastic. The Stink Stick is built to withstand the harshest elements you can throw at it.
There are no "O-rings" to rot or break here, the threads on the Stink Stick are tapered to keep scent fresh when closed. The unit we tested had a cologne covered wick inside which had a powerful smell. When the unit was closed there was no smell at all, which means you can leave this in your hunting pack without smelling up your pack, truck or house.

Gear Review: Lone Wolf SIt-N-Climb

The Lone Wolf Sit-n-Climb is the quietest, easiest to use climber that I have ever taken to the woods. Not only is it easy to use, but also deadly quiet and easy to transport.
I’ve used climbers for a number of years. I feel they give the hunter the ability to surprise a weary whitetail by allowing them to utilize a same day setup. A lot of climbers allow the hunter to get up a tree in these areas quietly, but only a few offer the hunter the opportunity to quietly walk to the area and keep the strain off their back. The Sit-n-Climb weighs in at 18 lbs. which is noticeably less than most all other climbers available. Not only is it lighter, but it also folds flat to make transporting the stand a breeze. Other climbers are bulky and extend over a foot off the hunters back. They not only weigh more, but also some of the weight sits away from the hunters back which makes it seem heavier. When hunting in remote locations nearly a mile from your parking spot, the last thing you need to worry about is wearing yourself out just a few hundred yards into your trip.

Rage 2 Broadhead Testing

It’s been quite a while since I have seen something take over the bowhunting world like the Rage Broadheads have done in the past year. These heads are “All the RAGE” as they are saying. After reading countless positive experiences from people who have used Rage broadheads, I decided to give them a try this season and have been thoroughly impressed so far.

Gear Review: Moultrie I-40

The Moultrie I-40 digital scouting camera is one of the most advanced scouting cameras on the market today. It takes color 4.0 megapixel color photos by day and infrared photos during low light and night time hours.
I have used the I-40 cameras for two years now and have yet to a find a better functioning camera in this price range. The I40 can be purchased for around $229. Equip it with the required 6 D cell batteries and a 1 GB SD memory card and the camera will run for up to 6 weeks depending on the number of pictures it takes.

Gear Review: Firenock G Series

The Firenock G series claims to be the most advanced lighted nock available for use in archery. After spending just a short time playing around with them, you’ll quickly learn why.

When using the Firenock, there is no fumbling around with the nock prior to the shot as there is with other lighted nocks on the market. Firenocks activate due to the acceleration of the arrow upon release. There is no need for a slight gap between the nock and arrow shaft, nor does it have to pass by a magnet in order to light. This sets it apart from all other lighted nocks available today.

HHA Optimizer Lite Elite 5519 Bow Sight

The Optimizer LT Elite is made of one piece machined aluminum, so durability is standard. The sight has 1 pin, so no confusion on which pin to shoot when you come to full draw. This particular version of the Optimizer LT Elite comes with a 2” sight housing wrapped with 10 feet of .019 green fiber optics, so brightness is a non-issue as well. Sight also is fully adjustable without any tools and is compatible with magnification lens and a light.

I purchased Optimizer LT Elite 5519 on the recommendation of my grandfather, and it is just as nice as he said it was. The design and quality of the sight leaves nothing to be desired. I was able to bolt in on my bow and have every yardage from 20 to 60 yards sighted in, within an hour. That’s impressive.

STS (Shock Terminator Suppressor)...

A few months ago I was searching for new archery gadgetry and stumbled upon the STS. This clever device is essentially a stopper for your bow string, that helps reduce hand shock and string hum. After doing some more research I decided to purchase one as an experiment, to see if it truly quieted my bow. I was pleasantly surprised with the results I achieved.

Spot Hogg Real Deal Sight

Ok, folks, now before we start I think we all should understand that the sight each hunter chooses to use on their bow is a personal choice, what works for one person may not be worth jack to someone else. Now having said that, if you shoot with anything other than a Spot Hogg sight you are missing out!
